Desk Buddy turns an old phone into a little robot friend that watches your cursor, gets sleepy when you're away, sweats when your CPU is maxed, and reminds you to stretch.
One small file. Double-click and you're done.
Move your mouse: it's watching you. Drag across it to pet it, click to poke it (not too much!).
Desk Buddy reads what's happening on your PC and turns it into tiny robot emotions.
Its eyes track your mouse across every monitor, then glance around when you stop.
Open VS Code, a terminal, Figma or Office and it switches to narrow-eyed focus mode.
YouTube, Netflix or Reddit? You'll get a very suspicious purple squint.
When your PC is working hard, it turns orange and starts sweating.
Step away and it yawns, then falls asleep. Come back and it wakes up happy to see you.
After 50 minutes of work it reminds you to stretch and drink some water. Tap to say thanks.
Stroke it and its eyes sparkle as it purrs. Poke it too much and it sulks until you make up.
Play a song and it dances perfectly in time with the beat. Watch a movie and it grabs the popcorn ๐ฟ
Open a PDF or a doc and it puts on glasses and reads along. In meetings it goes quiet.
It tells you when new Gmail arrives and reminds you before every Google Calendar event.
Its own name and personality, and a friendship that grows from shy to best friends.
Hold the screen for a timer, clock, stopwatch, focus sessions, a breathing exercise or dice, each with its own look.
Shake the phone and it gets dizzy, tilt it and its eyes roll, clap twice and it wakes up.
Optional teasing in three levels, from a sideways glance to dodging your finger.
Switch any feature on or off, pick its voice and where sound plays, right from your PC.
It sneezes, hiccups, hums, chases flies and says good morning. Spin your mouse and it gets dizzy.
No accounts, no cables, no app store. Your phone just needs a browser and the same Wi-Fi as your PC.
It installs itself, starts with Windows, and opens a short welcome tour to meet your buddy.
The tour shows a QR code. Point your phone's camera at it and the tour cheers when it connects.
Tap the robot to go fullscreen, prop the phone next to your monitor, and say hi.
Free and open source. Uninstall any time from Windows Settings โ Apps.
That warning appears for apps that aren't signed with a paid certificate. Click More info โ Run anyway. All the code is public on GitHub if you'd like to check it or build it yourself.
Phones only share motion sensors and the microphone with secure pages, so Desk Buddy makes its own certificate for your Wi-Fi. Phones don't know that certificate, so they warn once. Tap Advanced โ Continue. Everything still stays between your PC and your phone.
It's off unless you turn it on, and you pick how cheeky (Mild, Medium or Spicy). It never touches your PC, never fakes real alerts and stays quiet in meetings.
Only to let your phone reach the PC through the Windows firewall. It allows home/work networks only, never public Wi-Fi.
No. Everything stays on your own Wi-Fi between your PC and your phone. There's no account, no cloud and no tracking. If you connect Gmail or Google Calendar, your PC checks them directly with Google, and your App Password and calendar link are encrypted by Windows.
Yes. In your phone's browser menu, choose Add to Home screen. It gets its own robot icon and opens fullscreen.
Your PC's network address probably changed. Right-click the robot in the system tray, choose Connect a phone, and scan the new QR code.
